Revising your Book
Write and Rewrite: Revising Your Books
Have you ever written a book? Where is it? Has it been published and released into the world for readers to enjoy? Or has it been stowed away somewhere secret to gather literal (or electronic) dust? Whether you’ve written 300 pages about how to run a business, or have a collection of short stories just waiting to see the light of day, we want to help! Revising your book is the first step to being a published author, and we have some tips for you to make the process run smoothly.
How Old is Too Old?
While some pieces of writing are timeless, there are others that do not stand the test of time. We live in a fast-paced world where constant change has become the norm. This applies to the publishing industry as well; people aren’t going to read a book that isn’t relevant to today. Simply scanning the reference section of your local library reveals dusty guides to Microsoft Office 2010 and the first generation Apple iPad, both of which are almost 10 years old!
Your book about opening a boutique clothing store that you wrote in 2000 isn’t going to fit the modern climate of business. But that doesn’t mean it’s useless! All it needs is a little tweaking and research to bring it up to date for publishing.
